Managing My Energy to Achieve the Dream

Image
In general, most people can articulate the things they would like to accomplish in life. At first glance they may not know every detail but will have a few specific thoughts and maybe a fuzzy idea on how to achieve those goals. If someone does find the ambition to actually define those goals and mine out the details on how to get there, they run up against the next challenge. Where am I going to get the energy to accomplish this goal? Our energy level is one of several long term challenges. It's a strong move to evaluate and integrate energy management right from the beginning. Energy Requires Fuel The first step is to be aware that to get energy, we require fuel. The four areas that require this fuel are the physical , the mental , the emotional and spiritual parts of ourselves. There are things that are energy boosters and there are things are energy drainers. The energy boosters are the fuel stations that keep us up and running. The primary energy booster is gene

Developing Your Intuition

Image
The first step in developing your intuition is to ask, "what is it?" Intuition is instinctive knowledge, or a hunch. A keen and quick insight. 1 Much like in music, dance, sports and other occupations that require choreography, there is a secret ingredient that separates the good from the great. It is the difference between the cold hard facts and true beauty. Intuition is that ingredient. We as coaches actively monitor our intuition when coaching and even use the term, “dancing in the moment,” to describe our relationship with a client. To be highly skilled and practiced in our vocation, brings about a "knowing" that can be perceived as a sixth sense. The Dreyfus Model of skill acquisition articulates that there is development of intuition over time and comes with experience and growth. "Proficiency is shown by individuals who develop intuition to guide their decisions and devise their own rules to formulate plans. The progression is thus from rig

Critical Thinking or Settling?

Image
Why has coaching become such an important part of our modern society? We could probably gather that the fast pace, the hectic schedules and vast opportunities to choose from, and dare I say, destiny, have brought us to this moment. Maybe necessity is the mother of invention? Consider this for a moment. Is it possible that life coaching actually teaches a lost art? Maybe. I would submit that life coaching gives our society back something that has indeed, been left behind. That would be the skill of critical thinking. Clear, Rational, Open-minded, Informed So, what is critical thinking? Critical thinking is disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence . 1  If we are not thinking like this we get something like the following mindset: "I'm the worst person ever. I can't do anything right. I'm not smart enough. No matter what I do it always goes wrong. I don't know why, I just know it's not working!" Do yo

Brainstorming Your Change Strategy

Image
When you need to make a change in your behavior, we all know it's not easy. If it was easy, we would all be thin, strong, flexible, wealthy, effective and contributing to society in amazing ways. We would be on time, with the oil changed regularly, no leaky faucets, no missed appointments and doing it all with a peaceful demeanor. Life Coaches are expert at helping facilitate meaningful change in those who are fed up with less in their life. We want you to have the best ideas for both "the what and the how" of that change. We want as many options on the table to position our clients to make great decisions and help them discover powerful reasons for making that change. So a Life Coach, isn't going to come out of the chute and ask, "what do want?" and immediately answer, "then do that!" If it was that obvious, we would have all the stuff previously mentioned down pat. We certainly wouldn't need a coach either. A Change Strategy  A Life

Values are Valuable

Image
Seriously, how busy are you? It's true. We live in a time where pace, information and technology are moving and advancing so fast it's impossible to keep up with everything we want to do in life. The sooner we realize that we need to prioritize our life, the more we minimize the horror of looking back on a life that we did not intend. So, how then do we prioritize? Clearly, some things will have to be cut. Some things will have to wait. Others have to be done on a regular basis. Stop now and make a list of priorities! Don't prioritize them yet. Just write down all the priorities in any order. Now, to the next step. What Do You Value? To make the first list more meaningful try this. Jot down a list of values that are important to you. What are the values you would like to live in? Easier said than done. Where is a good place to start? Where do we set the bar for what's important? If you truly want to put more life in you day, ;-) let us remind you that
